German crime television series are resuming schedules following a summer hiatus. The ARD series ‘Tatort’ is set to return on September 13, 2026, with an episode titled ‘König in Gelb’ featuring Maria Furtwängler. Simultaneously, the ZDF series ‘Die Polizistin’, starring Thelma Buabeng as BKA case analyst Gloria Acheampong, is continuing with the film ‘Die Polizistin und die Todesstille’. Recent developments indicate ongoing production discussions for a third installment of the series. In connection with the series, actress Thelma Buabeng has addressed her experiences with racism within the film and television industry. In a recent interview, the 45-year-old actor noted that early in her career, she was frequently offered small roles that relied on outdated stereotypes, such as playing domestic workers or other marginalized figures. Buabeng stated that while she experienced racism during her school years, the most intense instances occurred during and after her professional acting training. She also observed instances where white actors were used in blackface to fulfill roles.
