German Formula 4 2027 relaunch

Overview

The relaunch of the German Formula 4 Championship for the 2027 season has progressed from team confirmations to the finalization of its racing calendar.

Initial reports confirmed a field of 14 participating teams selected from over 70 applicants. The lineup includes established organizations such as Van Amersfoort Racing and Jenzer Motorsport, alongside Belgian teams Comtoyou Racing and PK Carsport, which are transitioning into single-seater racing. Participation costs are estimated at approximately 100,000 euros per vehicle, with seasonal operating expenses potentially exceeding 500,000 euros.

The championship has since confirmed a seven-round calendar spanning May to October. The schedule includes races at Oschersleben, Lausitzring, Nürburgring, Red Bull Ring in Austria, Sachsenring, and Hockenheim. Due to necessary infrastructure and safety upgrades required at the Norisring to meet homologation standards, the Nürburgring sprint circuit will replace the Norisring for the July round. The series will be integrated into DTM events and ADAC Racing Weekends to increase driver exposure.
