German prosecutors have expanded an investigation into Ulrich S., a palliative care nurse previously convicted of murdering ten patients and attempting to murder 27 others. The Aachen prosecutor’s office is now examining more than 120 additional suspicious cases potentially linked to the individual. As part of the ongoing investigation, 39 exhumations have been conducted in Aachen. Concurrently, the Cologne prosecutor’s office is investigating potential killings occurring before 2020 at a clinic where the man was employed; seven bodies have been exhumed in that jurisdiction. Ulrich S. was sentenced to life imprisonment last November for crimes committed between December 2023 and May 2024 in Wuerselen, where he was found to have administered excessive doses of sedatives and painkillers. Prosecutors anticipate filing new charges against him next year.
