Germany has seen a series of successful local and seasonal festivals throughout October 2026. Earlier reports highlighted record-breaking attendance at the Haager Herbstfest, which celebrated its 15th anniversary. Organizers noted that the second Saturday saw the highest number of visitors in the event’s history, a success attributed to consistently good weather that benefited beer gardens and fairground operators. The event concluded peacefully with a fireworks display. Additionally, an Oktoberfest in Limbach was organized by FC Palatia to support a local family. As the month progresses, the focus has shifted toward upcoming seasonal and cultural events. In Berlin, the 22nd Festival of Lights is scheduled from October 9 to 18 under the theme ‘Colours of Love’. The event will feature light and video projections at approximately 40 locations, including landmarks such as the Brandenburg Gate, Berlin Cathedral, Fernsehturm, Potsdamer Platz, and the Olympiastadion. Most installations are expected to be visible daily from 7:00 PM to 11:00 PM, and all open-air attractions are free to the public. Specific details have emerged regarding the Museumsinsel, a UNESCO World Heritage site, which serves as a central venue for the Berlin festival. Light installations will utilize the architectural backdrops of the Altes Museum, Neues Museum, Alte Nationalgalerie, Pergamonmuseum, and Bode-Museum. Other notable sites in the program include the Victory Column. Other regional light events include the Barmer Lichterzauber in Wuppertal from October 8 to 11. In Hamburg-Fischbek, the Turnverein Fischbek von 1921 e. V. will host a traditional lantern parade through the Fischbeker Heidbrook on October 23, accompanied by the Spielmannszug Elstorf. Seasonal transitions are also marked by the opening of winter-themed events, such as the Bayreuther Winterdorf in Bavaria and the Winterzauber in Laubach on October 15. Furthermore, the Autumn Fair (Herbstkirmes) at Tonhallenufer in Düsseldorf is set to run from October 23 to November 1, featuring a ‘Halloween Special’. Other regional celebrations include the Kreisheimattag in Schmalkalden-Meiningen and the historical Handwerkermarkt in Kirta.
