The 22nd Germencik Fig Festival in Aydın, Turkey, featured various cultural and culinary activities to promote the local fig industry. During the event, Eda Kaya won the Fig Flavor Competition with her dessert ‘İncirin Altın Tahtı’ (The Golden Throne of Fig), earning a perfect score from the jury. The week-long festival concluded with musical performances by artists including Pelin Çetin, Ceren Özdemir, Ceza, and Zeynep Bastık. Local producers used the event to showcase regional products and highlight the district’s agricultural heritage. Building on the festival’s focus on fig-based products, 22-year-old chemist Ceren Ersancar introduced a new cosmetic innovation. Inspired by seeing fig-related items like cologne and ice cream at the festival, Ersancar conducted research and development starting in early summer to create perfumes derived from the essence of Aydın’s registered fig variety. She presented these unisex scents to the public during the festival organized by the Germencik Municipality.
