Ghana’s Black Queens entered WAFCON 2026 with a 25‑player roster led by captain Portia Boakye. A revised schedule shows Ghana opening against Cape Verde on 29 July, then facing Cameroon on 2 August and Mali on 6 July, all matches at Casablanca’s Moulay Rachid Stadium. CAF moved Ghana’s pre‑tournament camp from Fez to Casablanca, a logistical shift the team says will not affect preparations. Nigeria’s Super Falcons arrived in Morocco with a promised reward package of a house and US$100,000. Coach Kim Lars Björkegren praised the team’s defensive shape but warned of a lack of clinical finishing, and the squad returned to training with a mix of recovery work and intensified drills ahead of the decisive match against Mali. On 4 August Ghana drew 1‑1 with Mali in the final group game, with Evelyn Badu scoring first and Kadidiatou Diabate equalising. The point and superior goal difference secured Ghana a quarter‑final berth, where they will face Malawi.
