Ghana oil palm industry expansion

Overview

Ghana has initiated a major expansion of its oil palm industry, aiming to develop 100,000 hectares of new plantations to supplement the 360,000 hectares currently under cultivation. The TCDA, which regulates six strategic crops including cashew, coconut, and rubber, is emphasizing climate-smart farming and the development of competitive value chains to support the approximately 1.6 million households involved in the sector.
