The Ghana Publishing Company Limited (GPCL) has undertaken several initiatives to modernize its operations and digital services. In October 2026, Managing Director Nana Kwasi Boatey announced the launch of an online verification system and an e-bookshop. The verification tool allows users to confirm the authenticity of government gazettes via mobile devices to prevent fraud in legal and business transactions. The e-bookshop was introduced to provide easier access to the Constitution and Acts of Parliament for citizens outside the capital. By November 2026, the company highlighted further modernization through the establishment of its first Digital Press Centre, which was commissioned in January 2026. This facility aims to increase production capacity and meet demand for digital and on-demand printing. Minister for Government Communications Felix Kwakye Ofosu noted that the state-owned company has shown significant performance improvements under the current administration. To expand its revenue streams and operational capacity, GPCL is investing approximately €1.5 million in specialized security printing equipment. Expected to arrive in Ghana during November 2026, this machinery is intended to allow the company to compete in the production of sensitive documents, such as passports and chequebooks. To support this, GPCL is converting an existing warehouse into a dedicated security printing section. To address liquidity challenges and overstaffing, GPCL has implemented a three-shift, 24-hour operational system. Managing Director Boatey reported that he inherited 250 employees in February 2025, while the company only required approximately 150 for effective function. Rather than downsizing, the company utilized the government’s 24-hour economy policy to redistribute staff across shifts, which has reportedly maximized machine utilization and improved output. In November 2026, GPCL reported a significant financial turnaround, posting a profit after tax of approximately GH¢16.96 million for 2025. This marks a 661.36 per cent increase from the GH¢2.23 million recorded in 2024.
