In late July 2026, Gigabyte announced its new B550 X Series motherboards for the AM4 platform, targeting AMD Ryzen 5000 series CPUs such as the Ryzen 7 5800X3D. The boards retain DDR4 support while adding Wi-Fi 7, a 10-phase 60 A DrMOS VRM, expanded cooling, and convenience features for antennas, M.2 drives and graphics cards. Alongside the hardware, Gigabyte introduced X3D Turbo Mode 2.0, a BIOS-level performance boost for Ryzen X3D processors that automatically optimises CPU, memory and power delivery, delivering up to 34% higher frame rates in gaming and notable gains in multi-core benchmarks. Two days later, Gigabyte provided additional details, describing specific models including a Micro-ATX B550M X AORUS ELITE WIFI7 and plans for ATX variants. The boards feature Wi-Fi 7 with 160 MHz channels, 2.5 Gb Ethernet, Bluetooth 5.4, four DDR4 slots, PCIe 4.0 x16, and dual M.2 slots. The company positioned the series as a cost-effective alternative to DDR5 platforms, emphasizing the continued affordability of DDR4 memory while supporting Ryzen 3000, 4000 and 5000 series CPUs. By early August, Gigabyte further detailed the B550 lineup, which will include Gaming, Eagle, and Elite variants in both ATX and Micro-ATX formats. These models feature enhanced thermal management using larger heatsinks and 5 W/mK thermal pads, alongside tool-less M.2 installation. Simultaneously, Gigabyte expanded its high-end offerings to the AM5 platform with the introduction of the X870 AORUS Infinity motherboard, designed for Zen 5-based Ryzen 9000 CPUs and featuring USB 4.0 and PCIe Gen5 support. This X870 AORUS INFINITY model serves as a 40th-anniversary special edition, featuring an 18+2+2 phase digital power supply and a rotated layout designed to facilitate liquid nitrogen cooling for extreme overclocking.
