Global aviation saw record-breaking activity in 2025, with 9.8 billion passengers and 131.2 million tonnes of air cargo handled. While international travel drove much of this growth, reports indicate a slowdown in the first half of 2026 due to economic and geopolitical pressures. According to the Airports Council International (ACI) World, international travel rose 6.1 percent in 2025, significantly outpacing domestic growth of 1.7 percent. While some corridors, such as Europe-to-Asia routes, showed strong growth of 12.1 percent in July 2026, global demand has faced volatility. In Brazil, domestic aviation reached historic milestones between January and August 2026, with passenger numbers exceeding 68.3 ~~million.
