Global air passenger traffic has shown upward trends, with ACI World reporting approximately 9.8 billion passengers in 2025, a 3.6% increase from 2024. While Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport remained the world's busiest, Dubai International Airport and Tokyo Haneda Airport also maintained high rankings as major global hubs. In Latin America, significant growth and infrastructure developments are being observed. Mexico's Felipe Ángeles International Airport (AIFA) has surpassed 22.6 million passengers since its 2022 opening and has become a leader in national air cargo transport. Similarly, El Salvador's San Óscar Arnulfo Romero y Galdámez International Airport handled over 4 million passengers through early October 2026, prompting modernization projects to expand terminal capacity and improve transit services. In Mexico, President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo reported that several state-run enterprises are meeting monthly objectives and have reached a point of equilibrium, generating sufficient revenue to cover operational costs without additional federal budget support. Among these entities, Mexicana de Aviación has transported 1,276,152 users, and the Felipe Ángeles International Airport (AIFA) has handled 22,661,800 passengers since its March 2022 opening. AIFA continues to serve as a leader in national air cargo transport.
