Major financial institutions and corporations reported diverse third-quarter results for 2026. In the banking sector, performance varied significantly by region. India’s State Bank of India reported a 14.3% increase in net profit, while several European and West African lenders, including Portugal’s Novobanco and BPI, as well as NSIA Banque Côte d’Ivoire and Société Générale Côte d’Ivoire, experienced profit declines. In Brazil, Santander reported a 16% decrease in managerial net profit alongside workforce and location reductions. Broader corporate earnings also showed mixed trends. In the fintech sector, Singapore’s Grab reported that its financial services segment achieved its first positive adjusted EBITDA in the third quarter of 2026, recording US$12 million compared to a loss of US$28 million in the previous year. This segment's revenue rose 124 per cent year-on-year to US$201 million, driven by lending activities across GrabFin and digital banks including GXS Bank in Singapore, GXBank in Malaysia, and Superbank in Indonesia. Grab's gross loan portfolio reached US$2.71 billion by the end of September, a 200 per cent increase from the previous year. At the group level, Grab reported a 27 per cent increase in third-quarter revenue, totaling US$1.11 billion. Total customer deposits across its digital banks in Singapore, Malaysia, and Indonesia reached US$2.7 billion by the end of the quarter. The healthcare sector saw growth from Novo Nordisk, which raised its full-year outlook due to increased obesity-treatment sales. Additionally, Mexico’s Grupo Financiero Banorte reported a 20% increase in earnings, and the U.S. utility ONE Gas raised its earnings forecast.
