While newer ships utilize Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) to reduce CO2 emissions, reports note that methane emissions remain a concern. Projections suggest that if current trends continue, the largest vessels in 2050 could be up to eight times larger in gross tonnage than the Titanic.
