Global cryptocurrency wealth distribution report

The Henley & Partners ‘Crypto Wealth Report 2026’ provides data on the global distribution of cryptocurrency wealth as of August 31, 2026. The report indicates that global cryptocurrency ownership has reached approximately 742 million people, with 371 million holding Bitcoin. The total global cryptocurrency market is estimated at $2.6 trillion, with Bitcoin accounting for roughly $1.6 trillion.

Regarding high-net-worth individuals, the report identifies 135,694 crypto millionaires, including 92,272 who hold at least $1 million in Bitcoin. There are an estimated 23 crypto billionaires, nine of whom hold at least $1 billion in Bitcoin. Additionally, the report estimates there are 290 individuals worldwide with crypto assets valued at $100 million or more, 151 of whom hold at least $100 million in Bitcoin.

While the report notes that Bitcoin is trading approximately 38% below its October 2025 peak, it observes that this decline is less severe than previous bear markets. The consultancy firm utilizes a proprietary wealth calculation model, though the exact methodology remains undisclosed.
