Global environmental and geopolitical instability

Global instability is being driven by a combination of environmental crises and geopolitical maneuvering. Early reports highlight increasing natural disasters, such as frequent earthquakes in South America, wildfires in Spain, European droughts, and extreme Mediterranean warming. Geopolitically, efforts by the United States and Israel to control strategic maritime passages—including the Strait of Gibraltar, the Strait of Hormuz, and potential interests in Greenland—are viewed as attempts to counter the rising influence of China and Russia.

By late August, these instabilities intensified. Environmental threats expanded to include glacier melting in the Himalayas, the Alps, and the Andes, alongside continued seismic activity in Colombia. Geopolitical tensions escalated through the intensification of the war in Ukraine and the conflict in Gaza. In the Middle East, the resilience of the Iranian regime has challenged strategic calculations by the Pentagon and Israeli leadership, contributing to increased instability in the Persian Gulf.

In the United States, domestic challenges have emerged, including declining presidential approval ratings, fuel shortages contributing to inflation, and immigration enforcement actions impacting school attendance. Additionally, military concerns have been raised regarding missile supplies and the psychological well-being of naval personnel.
