Global geopolitical tensions have escalated across multiple fronts involving Russia, Ukraine, and Iran.

Initial instability was marked by Vladimir Putin threatening to seize Western vessels in response to European inspections of the Russian shadow fleet, which he characterized as ‘piracy and banditry’. Concurrently, economic pressure on Iran increased as the United States signaled intensified measures, contributing to oil price surges due to fears of maritime disruptions in the Strait of Hormuz and Bab el-Mandeb.

As the situation progressed, the conflict in Ukraine saw heightened risks of expansion. Russia warned the United Kingdom that providing drones for attacks on Russian populations could lead Moscow to treat London as a combatant and respond with strikes on English territory. In the Middle East, the conflict involving Iran expanded to include several Persian Gulf nations. This period also saw discussions in Washington regarding the potential use of tactical nuclear weapons in Iran, raising the risk of a retaliatory nuclear response from Tehran and a broader confrontation involving NATO member nations.
