Geographically, Europe is expected to dominate the luxury landscape, claiming seven of the top ten global destinations. Japan is currently ranked as the number one destination, followed by Italy, France, Greece, and Spain. Other top-ten locations include Croatia, South Africa, Portugal, the United Kingdom, and the United States. As of late 2026, a growing divide has emerged between ultra-wealthy travelers and the general public, driven by rising cost-of-living pressures. While most travelers face tighter budgets, the luxury sector is seeing increased spending on extreme extravagances. This trend is exemplified by high-end hospitality services, such as the Airelles Palladio Venice in Italy, which features massive dessert buffets curated by celebrity French pastry chef Cedric Grolet.
