Recent reports highlight the prevalence of romance scams targeting older individuals through emotional manipulation on social media and messaging platforms. In one instance, a 62-year-old man in Spain was defrauded by an individual claiming to be a nurse working on a medical mission. The perpetrator promised a percentage of large savings in exchange for assistance with fund transfers, ultimately leaving the victim with nearly no remaining bank balance.
