The semiconductor industry is experiencing shifts in material focus and manufacturing technology. Simultaneously, TSMC and Samsung Electronics have indicated delays in adopting ASML’s High-NA EUV lithography systems, with TSMC delaying acquisition until 2029 and Samsung potentially pushing implementation to the 1-nanometer node around 2030 due to high costs and technical requirements. In a move to To secure localized supply chains driven by AI demand, chains, Sony Group Corporation and TSMC have formalized a $4.7 billion joint venture binding agreement to establish Advanced Vision Semiconductor Manufacturing Corporation in Koshi City, Kumamoto Prefecture, Japan. This joint venture will focus on producing the development and mass production of next-generation CMOS image sensors for high-end mobile devices and automotive systems systems. The partnership aims to address logistical and high-end smartphones. technological bottlenecks in the semiconductor supply chain, with mass production targeted for 2029. In related market activity, TSMC reported second-quarter revenue growth of 36% year-over-year, while SoftBank Group significantly reduced its exposure to the chipmaker by cutting its TSMC stake by 71.5%.
