Globoplay has announced the upcoming premiere of ‘Verônika com K’, a Brazilian legal-police drama series starring Roberta Rodrigues. Set six years before the events of ‘Arcanjo Renegado’, the series follows Verônika, a successful criminal lawyer from a marginalized background. Following a family tragedy and a corruption scandal involving her mentor, Orestes Schneider, Verônika faces a professional and ethical dilemma when asked to defend Rod, an influential drug lord from her former community. The narrative involves complex themes of criminal law, police conspiracies, and territorial disputes. Created by José Junior and directed by Silvio Guindane, the series features a high-stakes confrontation between Verônika and prosecutor André Franco, played by Marcelo Serrado. During a launch event in Rio de Janeiro, Rodrigues described the series as ‘revolutionary’ for its representation, noting that it places Black characters in prominent, powerful roles rarely seen in Brazilian audiovisual productions. She emphasized that the story explores diverse female experiences, including single motherhood and family leadership, while highlighting themes of human relationships, strength, and vulnerability. Following its scheduled release, the series has debuted on Globoplay, joining other new crime-focused content on major streaming platforms.
