Production remains halted after Ryan Hurst’s torn biceps in late June 2026. The role of Kratos is being recast; as of early August 2026 former WWE champion Dave Bautista is in formal negotiations, reported by Variety and Deadline. ~~Pre‑production with~~ By early August Amazon confirmed Bautista ~~is set~~ will replace Hurst, with preparation for ~~mid‑August,~~ the new lead slated to start in mid‑August and principal photography ~~is slated~~ set to resume mid‑October 2026 in Vancouver. Four episodes already filmed with Hurst are expected to be reshot, and additional recasting for Atreus and Thrud is planned for season 2. The rest of the cast—including Callum Vinson (Atreus), Ed Skrein (Baldur), Mandy Patinkin (Odin) and others—remains unchanged.
