Goiânia Mayor Sandro Mabel has expanded his administration’s land regularization efforts, targeting several residential areas in the city’s Northwest Region. Building on previous efforts in Residencial Serra Azul, the mayor has now authorized free property deeds for 813 families in Residencial Fortaleza and Residencial Juscelino Kubitschek I and II. This initiative provides residents with registered documentation valued at approximately R$ 14.5 thousand per deed at no cost. The measure addresses significant historical delays: families in Residencial Fortaleza have awaited documentation since 1988, while 646 families in Residencial Juscelino Kubitschek I and II have been waiting since 2009. By legalizing these neighborhoods, the municipal government intends to officially recognize these areas to facilitate infrastructure investments, such as planned paving and drainage works. In addition to housing, the administration is pursuing large-scale infrastructure projects. Mayor Mabel has met with the National Department of Transport Infrastructure (DNIT) to request the transfer of federal land in the Negrão de Lima region. This action transfer is part intended to facilitate the completion of a broader municipal program with the goal Leste-Oeste corridor and the resumption of regularizing 40,000 properties across the city. 44-kilometer Anel Viário project, which aims to reduce congestion on the BR-153 highway. Parallel to these housing initiatives, the mayor continues to seek the creation of a municipal real estate fund to address a pension deficit estimated at R$ 2 million per day. While the administration emphasizes that the fund aims to generate income through private sector partnerships rather than the simple sale of public land, legislators continue to request transparency regarding the specific properties involved to protect public spaces like schools and parks.
