Following a period of instability in late September 2026, the Vietnamese gold market experienced continued fluctuations. On September 19, domestic SJC gold bars reached levels around 144.6 - 147.6 million VND per tael, while global prices trended toward 4,400 USD per ounce. By late September, volatility increased as SJC bars dropped to approximately 141.9–144.9 million VND per tael and global prices faced downward pressure, trading between 4,300 and 4,377 USD per ounce due to a strengthening US dollar and rising Treasury yields. On September 28, global spot gold fell toward multi-week lows of 4,111 to 4,130 USD per ounce, while some Vietnamese investors reported losses of up to 52 million VND per tael. Throughout early October, global prices faced further pressure. By October 5, spot gold fluctuated between 4,150 and 4,167 USD per ounce. A rebound occurred between October 7 and October 9, with prices surpassing 4,190 USD per ounce. However, the market shifted again on October 19 and 20, with SJC gold bars seeing reductions of 500,000 to 1.6 million VND per tael, bringing prices to approximately 142 million VND per tael. On October 23, the downward trend intensified. Global spot gold fell by approximately 3.11% to around 4,003.79 USD per ounce, marking a two-month low driven by selling pressure and energy market volatility. In Vietnam, SJC gold bars saw further reductions of 300,000 to 800,000 VND per tael, with major retailers listing prices between 139–142 million VND per tael. By late October 23, global gold prices fell sharply, dropping below the 4,000 USD per ounce threshold for the first time since mid-July. This decline was attributed to fears of persistent inflation, expectations of tight US Federal Reserve monetary policies, and a sell-off in technology stocks. By late October 24, the downward trend continued.
