Golf tournaments in Guyana and Jamaica

Overview

Regional golf activities have seen increased participation across the Caribbean and South America. In mid-October, a 36-member Guyanese contingent traveled to Suriname to compete in the DSB Suriname Invitational Golf Championship at the Golf Club Paramaribo, an event intended to strengthen ties between golfing communities.

By late October and early November, larger scale events were reported. The Brava Guyana Open 2026 began at the Lusignan Golf Club, drawing over 90 golfers from nations including the United States, Canada, and Zimbabwe. Attorney General Mohabir Anil Nandlall noted the importance of golf in driving sports tourism and economic development. Simultaneously, the 58th Jamaica Open Golf Championship prepared for its event at the Tryall Golf Club, featuring international competitors and offering world-ranking points.
