Google is expanding the commercial availability of Google Beam, its 3D video communication technology formerly known as Project Starline. The system utilizes HP Dimension hardware, featuring specialized screens and cameras to create depth and natural eye contact without requiring headsets or glasses. The technology is designed to integrate with existing software like Google Meet and Zoom. Distribution has expanded to corporate customers in the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, France, Germany, and Japan. To support this rollout, Google has partnered with 18 channel partners. In Japan, Daiwabo Information System (DIS) will act as a distributor. Additionally, a partnership with coworking provider Industrious will allow users to book Beam technology in select locations, including Atlanta, Chicago, New York City, and Palo Alto, beginning in October. In France, the deployment of HP Dimension and Google Beam has been facilitated through a partnership between audiovisual integrator Videlio, Google, and HP. This implementation utilizes AI and spatial audio to create a life-sized, immersive experience designed to capture non-verbal cues and micro-expressions in real time, allowing participants to appear as if they are sitting around the same table.
