Google is expanding the availability and features of its Fitbit Air, a screen-free fitness tracker. Following its initial announcement, the device was released in the United States at a $99 price point. A Special Edition, created in collaboration with The Pokémon Company to celebrate the franchise’s 30th anniversary, features a ‘Sleepy Blue’ colorway and a silk-printed Sleeping Pikachu strap. This edition integrates with the Pokémon Sleep app, allowing users to sync sleep data to earn in-game rewards. In India, the Fitbit Air launched on October 2, 2026, priced at ₹13,999, though bank discounts can reduce the effective cost to ₹12,999. The device is available in Obsidian, Lavender, Berry, and Fog colors. Recent hardware and software updates include the introduction of a Metal Mesh band in Polished Silver and Champagne Gold, priced at approximately €79.99 or $69.99. Google also rolled out the ‘Health Guardian’ suite for Google Health Premium subscribers, which provides monthly reports on blood pressure and insulin resistance trends based on long-term physiological monitoring via non-invasive signal analysis. Through the Google Health 5.11 update, the automatic activity detection system—which incorporates heart rate, historical data, user corrections, and location—aims to be twice as accurate and reduce missed workouts by more than half. This update expands the number of detectable activities from 10 to over 100, including strength training, swimming, golf, and various team or racket sports. Users can now customize the standard 15-minute detection threshold to suit specific routines. Furthermore, the update introduces enhanced sleep tracking with improved awake detection, simplified glucose monitoring visualizations, and integration with third-party applications such as Flo Health and MyFitnessPal.
