In late August 2026, Google released version 5.07 of the Google Health app for both Android and iOS users, focusing on data accuracy, manual logging, and interface stability. Key improvements included refined swimming and running logs, faster map rendering, and recalibrated weight tracking graphs. In late September 2026, Google expanded its ecosystem via the Google Health 5.09 update, rolling out the ‘Health Guardian’ suite to Pixel Watch 3, 4, and 5 users. This suite introduces tools to monitor blood pressure trends, insulin resistance trends, and sleep breathing quality metrics. These features are designed to identify long-term physiological patterns rather than providing clinical diagnoses. To utilize blood pressure tracking, users must wear their device for at least five consecutive days in September, while insulin resistance tracking requires seven or more days of continuous wear. Google noted that these features utilize algorithms trained on datasets containing “over one trillion data points” to identify subtle physiological changes. For example, blood pressure trends are estimated via pulse and motion data without a traditional cuff, while insulin resistance is monitored through heart rate, sleep, and activity patterns. While these tools are free for specific Pixel Watch models, Fitbit Air users will eventually access them via a Google Health Premium subscription. Additionally, Pixel Watch 4 and 5 users in select European regions, including France, Germany, Ireland, and the UK, can utilize a breathing emergency detection feature designed to prompt emergency service calls if severe oxygen drops are detected. The update also introduced Cardio Load support for workouts tracked in third-party applications, such as Garmin or Apple Watch, provided heart rate data is synced to Google Health. Monthly trend reports for these new metrics are expected to arrive in the Google Health app in early October.
