GPU market price increases and AI demand
Overview
The market for high-end and professional graphics processing units (GPUs) is experiencing significant price increases driven by demand for artificial intelligence workloads.
In the rental market, spot rates for high-end GPU clusters, such as the H100, have nearly doubled in seven months, rising from under $2 to approximately $4 per hour. Contract rates have also increased by roughly 40% compared to the previous year.
In the hardware market, Intel’s Arc Pro series is seeing both new product launches and sharp price hikes. In China, GUNNIR released the Intel Arc Pro B65 TF 32G, while the Intel Arc Pro B70 has seen international price increases of up to 48%. In the United States, the ASRock Creator variant rose from approximately $999 to $1,299. This demand is largely attributed to the high VRAM capacity and error correction capabilities required for AI inference and machine learning tasks.
