Grand Seiko has announced two new limited edition timepieces. The first, the Wako limited edition Heritage Collection model (Ref. SBGA531), features a dial pattern inspired by the architectural tiles of the Grand Seiko Flagship Boutique Ginza. This model utilizes the Spring Drive Caliber 9R65 movement and is limited to 150 pieces. The second announcement is the SBGW325 from the Elegance Collection, a 9S Mechanical Manual-Winding watch commemorating 25 years of the brand’s hand-wound 9S mechanical movement. Inspired by the 2001 SBGW003, it features a matte deep navy dial inspired by traditional Japanese indigo dyeing and is powered by the 9S64 calibre movement. Further details on the SBGW325 reveal a 37.3 mm stainless steel case with a thickness of 11.7 mm, utilizing the brand’s signature Zaratsu polishing technique. The design includes raised Arabic numerals in a typography style originally designed by Nobuhiro Kosugi. To emphasize its Japanese heritage, the timepiece features a dark blue crocodile leather strap hand-dyed using traditional Hon-Ai indigo techniques and is protected by a domed sapphire crystal. Additional specifications for the SBGW325 note that the model includes a gold-colored seconds hand and logo, alongside silver-colored numerals and Dauphine hands. The timepiece is also supplied with an additional grey calfskin strap, with a retail price of approximately €5,700.
