The Hellenic Football Federation (EPO) has progressed with the organization of the 2026/27 Greek Cup, moving from initial draws to officiating assignments and venue scheduling. The second qualifying round, featuring thirteen winners from the first round competing against nine Super League clubs not participating in European competitions, was scheduled for 17–19 August 2026. As the qualifying rounds approached, the EPO announced the officiating assignments for the matches. One of the key fixtures, Iraklis vs. Volos, was set for the Serres Municipal Stadium. Iraklis, returning to the Super League after nine years, entered the match under new technical leadership, Walter Matsari, following a training camp in Italy. Volos, led by coach Kostas Bratsos, arrived with a renewed squad following preparations in the Netherlands. Per tournament rules, matches tied after 90 minutes were to be decided directly by a penalty shootout. Following the qualifying stages, the schedule for the Greek Cup League Phase has been released, identifying AEK, Olympiacos, Panathinaikos, and PAOK as betting favorites. As the League Phase approaches, the Central Refereeing Committee (KED) has announced officiating assignments for the opening matchday, scheduled for 1–3 September 2026. All appointed referees for the opening round are Greek officials. Notable assignments include Alexandros Katsikogiannis leading the AEL vs. Olympiacos match on 2 September, with VAR to be utilized in several key fixtures including Volos Elabet vs. Kalamata, PAOK vs. OFI, and Panathinaikos vs. Niki Volou. Regarding league operations, the Stoiximan Super League summer transfer window is set to close on 15 September 2026, a deadline later than major European leagues such as the Premier League, La Liga, and Serie A. EPO regulations also permit the registration of free agents between 16 September and 29 September 2026.
