Greek football clubs have recently faced scrutiny regarding officiating and disciplinary conduct. Initially, clubs such as Panthrakikos and Panathinaikos expressed strong dissatisfaction with refereeing decisions. Panthrakikos filed a complaint regarding unawarded penalties in a match against Panserraikos, while Panathinaikos directed complaints toward UEFA, alleging that officiating errors in a match against Chrástěcký Králové reflected a “recurring pattern of lack of respect” in European competitions. Following these controversies, the Disciplinary Committee of the Hellenic Football Federation (EPO) issued several financial penalties to various clubs during the second round of the season. Aris intends to request audio recordings of communications between Colombo and VAR officials. The specialized outlet ‘Referee Channel’ supported Aris’s claims, suggesting the incidents warranted red cards. Disciplinary issues have also escalated at the European level. The UEFA Control, Ethics and Disciplinary Body (CEDB) imposed fines totaling 140,500 euros on four Greek clubs for violations during summer qualifying matches.
