Greek regional authorities utilized the IFTM Top Resa international tourism exhibition in Paris to promote various destinations and expand international connectivity. Attica Governor Nikos Hardalias inaugurated the Attica Region’s pavilion to promote the Attica basin, including Athens and the Athenian Riviera, as a sustainable, year-round destination. The initiative focused on penetrating international markets and engaging with the French market to extend the tourist season. Other regional efforts included the Region of Eastern Macedonia and Thrace launching an outreach campaign for the 2027 season through B2B meetings. Additionally, the exhibition facilitated travel developments, such as Transavia France announcing extended winter flight services between Paris and Crete to boost tourism outside of peak months. Recent developments at the exhibition highlight growing interest from the French market in year-round travel and alternative tourism experiences. Central Macedonia is positioning itself as a four-season destination, supported by direct flight connections between Thessaloniki and Paris via Aegean, Transavia, Ryanair, and EasyJet. In Crete, specifically within the Rethymno municipality, discussions have focused on gastronomy, authentic experiences, and the development of cycling, walking, and conference tourism. To support these off-season efforts, Transavia is expected to provide direct connections from Paris to Heraklion, potentially offering up to four flights per week during the winter period.
