The Larissa Court of Appeals has upheld a 48-month prison sentence for a 38-year-old woman from Patra, convicted of online defamation and violating personal data. The court ordered the immediate serving of 12 months of actual imprisonment, rejecting all requests for leniency or the conversion of the sentence into a fine. The conviction stems from a years-long campaign of digital stalking and harassment against her former partner, a 37-year-old Air Force pilot from Volos, which began in September 2018. The harassment reportedly escalated after the pilot blocked her on social media. The woman allegedly created 203 fake social media profiles using the pilot’s name and photographs to post abusive, false, and insulting content. Through these fraudulent accounts, she also targeted the pilot’s friends, family, and colleagues with abusive messages. messages, appearing as the pilot himself to spread defamatory content. The defendant failed to appear at the appeal hearing and is currently being sought by authorities to be taken into custody.
