Green SM, a Vietnamese electric mobility provider, has begun expanding its global footprint into new markets. The company initiated pilot operations in the Netherlands, focusing on the Amsterdam area to refine service standards and operational processes. The company has now officially entered the North American market by launching an all-electric taxi service in Los Angeles, California. This launch marks Green SM’s ninth global market. The fleet consists entirely of initial rollout features 500 VinFast VF 8 electric vehicles, SUVs. Unlike competitors such as Uber and customers Lyft, which primarily utilize gig workers, Green SM employs and trains its drivers on a full-time basis. Customers can access the service via the Green SM app, a dedicated hotline, or by hailing vehicles directly on the street. To promote the launch, the company is offering new users a 50% discount on their first five trips, up to 12 USD per ride, alongside free registration for the Green Pass membership. This expansion provides increased visibility for VinFast, an automaker that has sold fewer than 400 vehicles in the United States during the first half of 2026. Simultaneously, the company is preparing for further expansion into Africa. Recent recruitment efforts in Abidjan, Ivory Coast, show the company is seeking personnel for 11 different positions, including commercial directors and technology operations leaders. This follows previous Vingroup initiatives in the Democratic Republic of the Congo to develop electric urban transport systems. To further its international reach, Green SM has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Elife to develop green tourism and transportation solutions. This partnership aims to integrate Green SM’s electric vehicle services into Elife’s global B2B super-app network, potentially reaching approximately 100 million monthly active users. The rollout is expected to target markets in Southeast Asia, Europe, and the United States, with a specific focus on providing eco-friendly travel options for international tourists visiting Vietnam.
