Grêmio and Internacional are finalizing preparations for the 455th Gre-Nal derby, scheduled for Sunday at the Arena. The match, part of the 30th round of the Campeonato Brasileiro, carries significant weight as both clubs remain in the relegation zone. Grêmio currently sits in 18th place with 30 points, while Internacional occupies 17th place with 31 points. Grêmio’s training sessions under Renato Portaluppi have focused on tactical compactness and finishing. The squad faces personnel challenges, including the suspension of midfielder Dodi and injury concerns regarding defender Wallace, who intends to wear a protective mask to manage a nasal fracture. The team is also monitoring the fitness of full-backs Diego Caito and Marlon. Internacional, led by coach Eduardo Baptista, seeks to stabilize its defense and improve offensive efficiency to break a winless streak against their rivals this season. Statistical models indicate a high risk of relegation for both sides, with Internacional facing a 51.7% probability of dropping to Serie B. To accommodate an expected crowd of approximately 50,000 to 53,000 fans, the EPTC has implemented a special transportation plan. This includes dedicated bus lines (F04, T2.3, and T2.4) and gradual road closures around the Arena starting at 1:00 ~~PM to manage traffic flow~~ PM. Additionally, the Brigada Militar has deployed a reinforced security operation, including officers at Trensurb stations and ~~ensure pedestrian safety.~~ specialized shock police units, to prevent clashes between rival supporters.
