Law enforcement operations in Spain have targeted various forms of cannabis cultivation and trafficking. In San Roque, the Guardia Civil seized 49 marijuana plants from a vehicle following a traffic violation in the Puente Mayorga neighborhood. The seizure occurred after officers inspected a vehicle after the driver entered a street in the wrong direction. Subsequent operations in Granada led to the dismantling of two several large-scale plantations. In the ‘Nazarí Alcazaba 2’ operation in Pinos Puente, authorities searched six properties, seizing 2,442 cannabis sativa plants and 20 kilograms of buds. A 25-year-old suspect was identified in connection with drug trafficking and electricity fraud. In the ‘Nazarí Torreón 04’ operation in Fuente Vaqueros, seven searches resulted in the seizure of 3,065 cannabis sativa plants. This operation also identified plants, identifying several individuals in connection with electricity fraud and ongoing judicial investigations. In a more sophisticated operation in Iznalloz, known as ‘Operation Garnata Silo’, the Guardia Civil uncovered an underground plantation utilizing five maritime containers buried in the ground. These containers were equipped with advanced lighting, ventilation, and air filtration systems. This operation resulted in the seizure of 1,357 marijuana plants and 600 grams of hashish. The investigation revealed the use of illegal electrical connections to power high-intensity lights, requiring the utility company Endesa to dismantle unauthorized connections at the site and various residences. Four individuals, aged 31 to 51, were arrested on charges related to public health offenses and criminal organization membership. One member is also under investigation for the illegal possession of an arsenal of weapons.
