Bandai Namco Entertainment is developing ‘GUNDAM ROGUE ORBIT’, a high-mobility action game set in a completely original Gundam timeline. Scheduled for release on March 5, 2027, for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam, the title follows pilot RE-X and the Gundam Helix as they defend humanity against a threat known as the ‘Apocalypse’. Recent gameplay reveals emphasize fast-paced, aggressive melee combat and deep customization. Players can modify the Gundam Helix’s weapons, frames, skills, and color schemes, though they must manage generator limitations that affect total performance. Combat mechanics include the ‘Over-Rise’ system for performance boosts and tactical boss battles where players can target specific enemy weak points. Missions involve deploying from the Stellarvane service craft to various environments, including the surface of Mars. Players will be supported by Vii, a specialized Haro intelligent assist unit. The narrative features characters such as Sofia, Captain April of the Stellarvane, sand pirate leader Big Paul, and commander Elaine. This game is part of the ‘RG Project’, a multimedia initiative by Bandai Namco Filmworks that connects the game to a new anime series, ‘Mobile Suit Gundam RG XARX-ZERO’. Directed by Kenji Kamiyama, the anime is a prequel set in the ‘After Apocalypse’ (A.A.) era and is scheduled to begin television broadcasting in April 2027. At New York Comic Con 2026, Bandai Namco showcased a demo for ‘Gundam Rogue Orbit’ and provided updates on the broader franchise, including the North American theatrical premiere of ‘MOBILE SUIT GUNDAM SEED FREEDOM ZERO’ in February 2027.
