Following the hit-and-run incident on Golf Course Road involving motorcyclist and content creator Shivani Chauhan (also known as Sia), suspects Kalyan Bainsla and his cousin, Lovneesh Bainsla, have been placed in 14-day judicial custody. The arrests followed a two-day search operation conducted by police in Rajasthan. Authorities have upgraded charges to include attempted murder under Section 109 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita after a viral video appeared to show the vehicle striking Chauhan’s motorcycle before fleeing. The footage, captured by a camera mounted on Chauhan’s motorcycle, shows a white car colliding with her. Chauhan has accused the driver of following her and intentionally steering into her motorcycle. Kalyan Bainsla denies the allegation of intent, claiming he lost control while attempting to avoid a group of motorcyclists who he says had been provoking his vehicle. He further stated he fled the scene due to fear of being attacked by the group. A Special Investigation Team (SIT), led by Assistant Commissioner of Police Susheela, continues to probe the case, including investigating reports that the suspects had been consuming alcohol on the night of the collision. Chauhan, a former Aam Aadmi Party municipal election candidate, has called for strict action against all occupants of the vehicle. She has also publicly rejected social media attempts to frame the incident as a caste-based crime, describing such narratives as “illogical” and stating the accident “could’ve happened to anyone.” The next court hearing is scheduled for October 1, 2026.
