Halo Studios announced the release of a remake of Halo: Campaign Evolved alongside the cancellation of Project Ekur’s multiplayer component. Following the announcement, the remake—rebuilt using Unreal Engine 5—was released on July 28, 2026. The title is available on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S. The remake features the original ten missions with modernized cinematics, improved level design, and updated navigation, while following the story of Master Chief and Cortana. On August 17, 2026, Halo Studios released update 17.661.002 for the title across all supported platforms. The patch addressed stability and gameplay bugs, such as an issue where Sgt. Johnson could block mission progress and errors regarding Marine weapon usage under the Magnified Skull effect. The update also introduced enhanced graphical controls, allowing players to toggle Chromatic Aberration and Film Grain, while providing PC players the option to disable upscaling and anti-aliasing entirely. Due to the update, existing save files for missions in progress became invalid, though unlocked missions and Rally Points were preserved. As part of this update, players can obtain the ‘Recompilation Armor’ for Master Chief, an electric blue, holographic cosmetic skin available for free via a redemption code on the Halo Waypoint website. Additionally, a fan-made mod titled ‘Faster Flood’ was released on Nexusmods, which increases Legendary mode difficulty by randomizing the movement speed of Flood combat forms, allowing some enemies to move up to twice as fast as the base game speed.
