Hamid Yorulmaz, an 18-year-old suffering from congenital thalassemia, is searching for his biological father to secure a compatible bone marrow transplant. The need for this search arose after DNA testing revealed that the man Yorulmaz believed was his father father, Mehmet Sağbaş, was not his biological parent. Yorulmaz reported being rejected by the family that raised him and being cast out by his mother, Nihal Beyit. Yorulmaz indicated that his medical window for successful treatment is narrowing, estimating he has approximately six months to find a donor before he turns 19. The investigative program ‘Müge Anlı ile Tatlı Sert’ has taken up the case to assist in the search. While Yorulmaz’s mother has exercised her right to remain silent regarding the identity of the biological father, the program’s research team is investigating family networks in Siirt and surrounding provinces to uncover the truth. Following Yorulmaz’s allegations that his biological father’s identity was intentionally concealed and that his uncle, Mehmet Yorulmaz, threatened him, the Torbalı Chief Public Prosecutor's Office launched an investigation. As a result, Nihal Beyit and Mehmet Yorulmaz have been taken into custody. The investigation includes charges such as ‘changing a child's lineage,’ ‘violation of obligations arising from family law,’ ‘failure to assist or notify,’ and ‘threats.’ As the legal proceedings progress, Nihal Beyit has been arrested. His uncle, Mehmet Yorulmaz, has been released under judicial control. Authorities are currently searching for the biological father, who is reportedly known by the nickname ‘Sakallı Hamid’ and resides outside of Izmir.
