Egyptian striker Hamza Abdelkarim has seen a significant surge in his market value following his move to FC Barcelona. According to Transfermarkt, the 18-year-old’s valuation rose from 1.5 million euros in June to 8 million euros in October 2026, representing a 433% increase in four months. This valuation spike follows strong performances with Barcelona’s U-19 team, where he scored six goals in 11 matches, and his involvement with the Egyptian national team. His international contributions include participation in the 2026 World Cup and scoring his first international goal against South Sudan. He currently ranks as the third most valuable Egyptian player and holds the 20th position among Barcelona players by market value. Abdelkarim’s rise was bolstered by a productive pre-season where he scored four goals in five friendly matches, including goals against Birmingham City, Basel, and Al Ahly during the Joan Gamper Trophy. Following these performances, manager Hansi Flick and sporting director Deco considered him a primary attacking option. In August 2026, the club registered Abdelkarim for the La Liga season, though his use of the number 29 jersey suggested he might be part of a secondary list rather than the primary squad. By October 2026, as senior players like Raphinha and Frenkie de Jong returned to fitness, Abdelkarim was expected to move to Barcelona Athletic, the club’s reserve team, to ensure consistent competitive minutes and maintain match rhythm.
