Hapag-Lloyd Cruises recently celebrated the 20th anniversary of its ‘Europas Beste’ gourmet festival on the MS Europa in the Port of Hamburg. The event featured ten elite chefs with a combined total of 23 Michelin stars, including Swiss chefs Tanja Grandits and Marcel Skibba, as well as three-star chef Kevin Fehling, who operates the onboard restaurant ‘The Globe’. Building on this culinary presence, chef Kevin Fehling is scheduled to personally host guests at ‘The Globe’ during seven selected voyages aboard the Europa in 2027. These upcoming itineraries will include travel along the American West Coast, through North and West Europe, and around Southern Africa. Expanding its gastronomic offerings, the cruise line is introducing new culinary-themed itineraries on the Europa 2 vessel. These programs aim to connect passengers with regional traditions and flavors through collaborations with various experts. Featured specialists include Kenyan chef Carol Mühlenbrock for routes from Tenerife to Cape Town, spice expert Dr. Manuela Mahn for Indian Ocean voyages, and Indonesian cuisine specialist Heinz von Holzen for trips through Southeast Asia to Western Australia. For the 2026/2027 season, the company is introducing 15 specialized culinary journeys aboard the MS Europa and MS Europa 2. These voyages will feature workshops, tastings, and lectures focused on themes such as Caribbean rum and Creole cuisine, African and Asian flavors, and South American traditions. One specific route from Morocco to Madeira will feature Magda Tedla, founder of Magda’s Food Programme, focusing on Moroccan and Canarian cuisine. Hapag-Lloyd Cruises, which was named the best cruise fleet in the world by Insight Guides in 2025, operates five ships: the Europa and Europa 2, alongside three expedition vessels—Hanseatic Nature, Hanseatic Spirit, and Hanseatic Inspiration. The company maintains an intimate travel experience with passenger limits of 500 on Europa class ships and 230 on expedition ships, supported by a guest-to-crew ratio of nearly 1:1.
