Czech actor Zdeněk Žák has experienced a significant decline in health involving kidney and heart complications. Initially hospitalized in Třinec due to worsening kidney problems while on vacation in Moravia, Žák had been undergoing regular dialysis and had reportedly declined a kidney transplant to prioritize younger patients. His condition later deteriorated, leading to his hospitalization in Kolín. Kolín to be closer to his family. At age 74, his health issues expanded to include heart and leg complications. He has previously battled kidney failure due to diabetes, noting that one kidney has failed completely and the other is in poor condition. As a result of his condition, Žák is unable to fulfill theatrical commitments, prompting retiring from stage performances. This has prompted the Adverte and Divadlo Bez zábradlí theaters to seek replacements for his roles. While he remains optimistic about and has expressed a “fighting spirit” regarding his recovery, it is noted that he will no longer be able to perform on stage.
