Heatwave and extreme weather in Spain
Overview
Spain has been experiencing significant heatwave conditions across various regions. In July, the Valencian Community faced an orange alert for extreme heat and a yellow storm alert, with a rare “rebentada càlida” driving temperatures above 38 °C and producing wind gusts exceeding 80 km/h. This event was described as “a burning hurricane” and caused power and telephone outages.
By August, the heatwave continued to affect much of the country, characterized by high temperatures and tropical nights. In Mallorca, intense heat and high humidity prompted alerts, particularly in inland areas.
