The Chianti region in Tuscany is hosting several heritage-focused sporting events. The 29th edition of the L’Eroica cycling event is scheduled for October 3–4, 2026, in Gaiole in Chianti. This international event is expected to host approximately 9,000 cyclists and includes festivities such as a vintage bicycle elegance contest and a ‘Mini Eroica’ pedal for children. Franco Rossi, president of Eroica Italia, described the event as a “community project” with deep local roots. In preparation for the L’Eroica event, the Consorzio di Bonifica 6 Toscana Sud has conducted cleaning operations on the Chianti torrent. Coordinated with the Municipality of Gaiole in Chianti, these efforts involved removing invasive vegetation from the hydraulic section to ensure visitor safety and improve the area’s aesthetic value. Mayor Michele Pescini stated that the maintenance is intended to showcase the territory’s identity during this international event. In addition to the cycling activities, the 43rd edition of the Coppa del Chianti Classico is set for September 18–20 in Castellina in Chianti. This competition serves as a stage for the Italian Championship for Historical Hillclimb Racing and features vintage cars on the Chiantigiana 222 route. Meanwhile, competitive races for junior and novice categories have already concluded in Monteroni d’Arbia, where Diego Della Polla secured his thirteenth victory in the second-year novice men's race.
