The second round of the HG Cross season, the Berencross, took place at the Sport- en Recreatiecentrum Ter Borcht in Meulebeke, Belgium. The course featured modifications such as the removal of a large bridge and a change in direction, while retaining sand pits, hills, and stairs. In the men’s race, Michael Vanthourenhout of the Pauwels Sauzen-Altez team secured his second consecutive victory in the series. Despite a difficult start where his team missed the initial launch, Vanthourenhout caught the leaders mid-race. He utilized a strong acceleration in the final lap to finish one second ahead of Jente Michels and Niels Vandeputte of Alpecin-Premier Tech. This win marked the third consecutive victory for the Pauwels Sauzen-Altez team. The race was characterized by heavy rain and muddy conditions that made the course treacherous. In the women’s category, Marie Schreiber of Luxembourg took first place with a time of 46:32, finishing ahead of Aniek van Alphen and the season opener winner, Lucinda Brand.
