In early August 2026, authorities in Caminha, Portugal, discovered a 14-metre high-speed boat valued at over €400,000 partially submerged in the Minho River. The vessel, which was on a trailer with Spanish license plates, was seized by the Maritime Police and Judicial Police. While no drugs or arrests were reported at the time, officials noted the boat possessed characteristics “often associated with logistics used by narcotics-trafficking networks.”

Later in the month, the Maritime Police seized another high-speed vessel found drifting without a crew off the coast of Oeiras. This boat was discovered with its engines running, though some were inoperable, and featured a hole in the bow. Authorities recovered approximately 4,000 liters of fuel in jerrycans along with food supplies. The Central Criminal Investigation Unit has been activated to conduct forensic examinations on the vessel and its contents.
