Holland America Line is executing the ‘Holland America Evolution’ program, a multi-year, $500 million investment to modernize six vessels. Initial updates include the addition of permanent poolside live music venues to Vista-class ships, specifically the Oosterdam and Zuiderdam. These bandstands in the Lido Pool areas are designed to host solo musicians, full bands, and themed events such as the company’s ‘Orange Party’. The Oosterdam is expected to debut its new bandstand in late 2027, followed by the Zuiderdam in spring 2028. Further enhancements for the Oosterdam include a redesigned Ocean Bar. This venue features a new stage and refreshed lounge spaces designed to bring guests closer to live performances. The redesign incorporates Art Deco and nautical influences, utilizing custom furnishings and recycled materials for upholstery as part of the company’s sustainability efforts. Due to high demand for upgraded vessels, the company has accelerated the Oosterdam renovation, moving the dry dock in Marseille, France, forward to complete the project five weeks earlier than originally scheduled. To accommodate this timeline, several voyages scheduled between September 11, 2027, and December 9, 2027, have been canceled. The Oosterdam is now set to return to service on October 31, 2027, with a 10-day cruise from Rome to Trieste. The company has also added four new cruises to the schedule, including Mediterranean voyages, a transatlantic crossing to Fort Lauderdale, and a Caribbean cruise.
