Holy Archdiocese of Canada leadership and community activity

In late September 2026, Archbishop Apostolos of the Holy Archdiocese of Canada announced the appointment of Father Evangelos Anastasiadis as the Director of Diakonia and Development. Effective October 16, 2026, this role is intended to coordinate the Archdiocese’s multifaceted work and foster new pastoral and educational initiatives, with a specific focus on strengthening the Patriarchal Orthodox Theological Academy.

By late October, Archbishop Apostolos expanded his community and philanthropic engagement through pastoral visits in Montreal and Toronto. In Montreal, he participated in celebrations for the 120th anniversary of the Greek Community of Greater Montreal and the National Day of October 28th. During a tour of the ‘Socrates–Demosthenes’ Greek school, he highlighted the necessity of preserving the Greek language using educational materials specifically designed for children living in the diaspora.

In Toronto, the Archbishop attended the ‘All Together’ charity dinner organized by the Hellenic Initiative, an event attended by diplomats including the Canadian Ambassador to Greece. He also hosted a dinner for eighteen Archons of the Ecumenical Patriarchate in Canada. These gatherings focused on humanitarian solidarity, the role of the Church, and strategies for maintaining Greek identity and supporting the community through clerical work.
