The Public Ministry of Honduras has initiated a recruitment process for auxiliary prosecutors to establish a database for the 2027 selection cycle. In the education sector, a report by the an Association for a More Just Society (ASJ) report identified irregularities within the Ministry of Education between 2022 and 2026. The findings indicate ASJ noted that while public school student enrollment decreased by nearly 6%, the ministry added over 4,000 employees to its payroll. The ASJ noted discrepancies such as 87,134, teaching positions increased by 4,191 and administrative staff grew by 1,099. These findings, which include teachers holding multiple positions and a disproportionate allocation of the budget, budget with 85% currently dedicated to salaries. salaries, prompted a formal complaint to the Superior Court of Accounts (TSC). In response, the Honduran Secretariat of Finance and the Directorate of Civil Service have launched a joint audit of the Education and Health sectors. Finance Secretary Emilio Hernández Hércules stated that the Civil Service will verify employee attendance, job performance, and the justification for assigned positions to determine if recent personnel increases are warranted.
